Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Government of Canada has approved a measure to provide GST/HST relief on certain items from December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025.

If your wines/products fall under the set of criteria below and you want to know the best way to adjust your settings to remove the GST/HST charge from your customers, the step-by-step guide is below.

What do you need to know about the Canadian Holiday Tax Break?

Alcoholic beverages that fall under the following criteria, will be exempt from GST or HST:

  • Beer and malt beverages

  • Wine, cider and sake (including fortified) that are 22.9% alcohol by volume (ABV) or less.

Important additional criteria for products to qualify for the exemption:

  • Paid for in full between December 14, 2024 and February 15, 2025.

  • Delivered or made available to the buyer between December 14, 2024 and February 15, 2025.

You can check the full criteria for exemption on the official government site here: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/taxes/child-and-family-benefits/gst-hst-holiday-tax-break.html

  5. Save your changes:

Make sure to do this for all relevant states/provinces.
